Reflexology
Hi, I'm Gill Cook owner of Forge Wellbeing Centre and its Reflexologist.
I qualified in 2002, when I gained my IIHHT Reflexology Diploma at Chippenham College. I then undertook further study in order to become a full member of the Association of Reflexologists (AOR), the largest reflexology organisation in the UK. Recently I completed a Maternity Reflexology Course with Suzanne Enzer in order to treat pregnant and pre-conceptual women. I am committed to continued professional development and regularly attend reflexology seminars and workshops.
Before qualifying I had been an administrator for most of my working life but knew there was something missing. I have always been interested in complementary/alternative subjects and lifestyles and knew I had to follow my intuition and retrain to be more fulfilled in my career.
Before opening Forge Wellbeing Centre I treated people at their homes or at my home and gradually realised I needed somewhere to practise from, ideally my own centre. In April 2006 I found premises and in October 2006 Forge Wellbeing Centre was opened.
Reflexology Treatment:
Reflexology is a well known and widely accepted complementary therapy which has its roots in ancient Egypt & China. Reflex points relating to all parts of the body are accessed via the feet using a variety of specific thumb and finger pressure techniques. Relaxing and therapeutic, reflexology also offers relief for many ailments and conditions, resulting in a more balanced body and mind. Stress relief, removal of harmful toxins and stimulation of the immune system are some of the benefits of reflexology. You remain fully clothed, except for shoes and socks and relax completely in a comfortable reclining chair.
Suitable for all ages and for pregnant mothers, the treatment can be adapted to your needs or timescale. A full treatment typically lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour and a short or taster treatment 30 minutes. Before the first treatment a full medical/lifestyle questionnaire must be completed and if I am in any doubt as to whether you may be treated, will advise you to seek advice from your GP.

About Counselling
Life can sometimes present itself as overwhelming and it can be difficult to find the space and time to take stock.
Counselling provides a safe and confidential space in which to explore any difficulties that you may be experiencing in your life. For many, counselling is an invaluable step toward learning more about who you are and making room for positive changes in your life.
As an Integrative counsellor, I draw on a variety of counselling models to meet the needs of each individual. I work with a range of issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, bereavement and stress among others.

Acupuncture
I qualified in medicine in 1976 and now specialise in Chinese medicine following 6 or so years of work in the NHS in the UK. I trained in acupuncture in China and subsequently studied in London in Chinese herbal medicine with the esteemed master of Chinese medicine, Tinh Thong Nguyen, a 3rd generation Vietnamese practitioner of Chinese medicine.
My practice in Chinese Medicine developed in Ireland when I started working above a health food shop in Clonakilty in 1994. I now also have my own herbal dispensary so that I can give herbs to people when they attend my clinics. I seek to offer wide-ranging support to people in their search for health and relief from symptoms. The treatments include acupuncture, moxibustion and Chinese herbal medicine. I also advise on diet, exercise and relaxation methods.
I am a fully registered medical practitioner with the UK General Medical Council and the Medical Council in Ireland. I am also registered with the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine in the UK, the Irish Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine and The Acupuncture Council of Ireland.

Aromatherapy Massage, Thai Foot Massage
I am a member of the Council of Holistic Therapies (MICHT) and the International Institute of Health and Holistic Therapies (IIHHT). I took up my studies once my family had grown up, initially as a hobby, and have been practising professionally since 2004. I have progressively acquired my techniques so that I can now offer a wide range of holistic therapies. In addition to my work at the Forge Wellbeing Centre, I have a thriving private practice and am retained by a large conference hotel in Bath to offer holistic therapies to their guests.
I am committed to providing holistic solutions for everyday conditions and enjoy creating an environment for my clients that is not only friendly and relaxing but also therapeutic.
Aromatherapy Massage
Aromatherapy is an holistic therapy taking account of the mind, body and spirit of the individual. It is an ancient form of healing; the plants from which we now extract essential oils had been used for thousands of years before the technique of distilling oils was discovered.
A treatment combines the effects of the essential oils with the process of having a gentle massage, creating a wonderfully relaxing and soothing experience. The oils are readily absorbed through the skin, whilst the aroma can have a subtle but real effect on the mind, and via the mind, on the body, as some part of the oil will be absorbed via the lungs and enter the bloodstream that way.
Aromatherapy massage can be used to treat a variety of physical and emotional conditions, and depending on the individual needs, essential oils can be used to sooth, uplift, energise, relax or stimulate.
Aromatherapy massage can help with: stress, anxiety, depression, fatigue, pain, colds, burns, scar tissue, digestive problems, skin conditions, migraine, hormonal imbalance.
Thai Foot Massage
Thai foot massage is one of the world’Äôs oldest healing arts and originated in India over 2500 years ago.
Thailand is positioned along the trade route between India and China and as Buddhism spread from India this ancient art spread with it. It has been practiced for centuries by monks in Southeast Asia where it was an element of Thai medicine.
Thai foot massage is a combination of massage techniques applied to the lower legs and feet and has elements of Shiatsu, Reflexology, Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine incorporated within. The massage works the lower legs and feet with stretches and compression to ’Äòopen’Äô energy lines. A stick is used to stimulate the reflex points on the feet which correspond to the internal organs of the body, thus resulting in benefits to general health and well being and includes:
Improved circulation
Stimulation of lymph drainage
Helping to boost the immune system and remove toxins
Improved flexibility and a reduction of stiffness
Relief of stress symptoms, such as mental fatigue and anxiety
Providing a feeling of relaxation and general well-being
Helps alleviate insomnia
Enhanced energy levels

Spiritual Healing for people, pets and horses
Spiritual Healing
Spiritual Healing is a well established, ancient, natural therapy. No 'faith' is necessary as the energy channelled is universal and is therefore available to all. I use guided visualisation to help relax the client; some people feel heat or tingling during the session and become deeply relaxed, others are energised and refreshed.
Flower Essences
I also use Australian Bush Flower Essences which have rapidly established a reputation for deep and profound effects on a wide range of physical and emotional conditions. These are carefully chosen to match your needs. The essences are taken orally as drops or can be added to drinking water.
People
Ease pain, discomfort, anxiety and worry. Assist recovery from injury. Feel revitalised. Healing works well for all ages, particularly babies and children. Everyone can benefit from the deep sense of peace and relief it brings.

Stress

Back pain
Insomnia
IBS
Menstrual difficulties

Excitability
Aggression
Nervousness
Digestive problems
Stiffness
Injury
Post competition

Please consult your vet in the first instance as my work is complementary to theirs.

Wendy Scott MISHA
Sound Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique
Wendy offers Sound Therapy using crystal & Tibetan bowls, gong baths, and incorporates other indigenous instruments, together with Monochord sound therapy. She offers individual sessions, group meditations and workshops and is also a practitioner of EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique, a form of psychological acupressure based on meridians and energy healing.
Wendy is a member of the International Sound Healers' Association, is fully insured and offers confidential caring treatments.
Sound Therapy is a very powerful and effective healing process, balancing and aligning the body's energy system. Amazing sounds move around your body like waveforms resulting in a deeply relaxing and empowering experience. Sound eases stress and relieves pain, soothes and alters emotional and mental states. It boosts the immune system helping to prevent physical illness.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is based on the ancient principles of acupuncture and is a simple tapping procedure that gently realigns the body's energy system, without the discomfort of needles. Unlike other energy healing methods, EFT incorporates an emotional element to the healing process, addressing unresolved emotional issues as a likely cause of physical disease, psychological dysfunction, and personal performance limits.
Negative emotional experiences disrupt the energy meridians that run through our body. The physical changes we feel from those disruptions, like nausea or anxiety, become attached to the memory of that experience and affect the way we see the world... until we heal that disruption. Properly applied, EFT quickly realigns the energy meridians with respect to negative memories, disconnects the physical discomfort that we attached to it, and quite often removes the resulting symptoms. It has a very high success rate and can be used on most issues including stress, phobias, addictions, smoking ceassation, anxiety and panic, depression, relationship issues, child behaviour problems, weight loss, self-confidence, migraine and a wide range of health conditions.

It is the result of extensive research and trials carried out in several countries and in conjunction with medical doctors and specialists. Hypnotherapy
The House of Lords Select Committee, in their recommendations on Complementary Medicine, placed Hypnotherapy as one of the disciplines that can "usefully complement conventional medicine".
I am a fully registered clinical Hypnotherapist and operate under a strict Code of Practice as a member of the Hypnotherapy Society and the Hypnotherapy Register. I have worked at Forge Wellbeing Centre for over a year where I offer confidential, caring treatment in a positive environment. Seeing people make positive changes in their lives through the process of Hypnotherapy is very rewarding, and it never ceases to surprise me that we don't realise how amazing we can be!
Hypnotherapy is the ultimate mind/body therapy to help reshape your life, change negative thinking patterns into positive thought processes or remove unwanted habits/fears/phobias.
Stress, anxiety, insomnia, addictions, weight control, anger management, sports performance, panic attacks, pain relief and many other problems can all be resolved by a minimum number of hypnotherapy sessions.
Some recent testimonials to this effect:
"Thank you so much for helping me to overcome my many difficulties. Your professional, relaxed and reassuring approach as a therapist has enabled me to change, almost miraculously, from a 'clenched fisted', anxious worrier to a clear thinking person with a much calmer and optimistic outlook on life."
Mrs. A.V. Oct 2007
"Many thanks for helping me. On the Friday following my last session I had my best day in 4 months."
Mr. D. H. Feb 2007
"Just to let you know I was told that my reading at the wedding was "excellent" and I feel the therapy worked brilliantly."

PAST LIFE REGRESSION - Present Life Healing
Past Life Regression is an extremely valuable form of healing for some people. However, it is important to note that it is not a 'cure all panacea' but it can provide the opportunity to explore the possibility of previous lives, or simply as a fascinating experience or a healing journey.
I offer a safe, confidential environment in which people can explore aspects of any past influences which may be affecting them now, or holding them back. The process can explore and resolve past or current life issues.
Have you ever felt you've been to a place, or knew your way around somewhere that you know you have never visited before? How about those 'de ja vous' moments, or a first meeting with someone that you feel you've 'known' forever? Chances are , you have!
What about those irrational fears, or dislikes of places or environments? Past Life Regression offers you the opportunity to explore possible explanations.
During a session a person may experience a 'past life' which actually took place, or images which represent a metaphor for their current life situation, or they may connect with what some consider to be the 'collective unconscious' and imagine what it was like living in another time or place... it does not matter which as long as the therapy itself helps to resolve current issues thereby allowing the individual to experience more JOY in their current life.
If this process is of interest to you please telephone, email or call into Forge Wellbeing Centre and I will be happy to discuss Past Life Regression with you.
Jenny Newman Reiki Master IIHHT, VTCT
Reiki & Therapeutic Massage
Reiki has always been in my life although I wasn't consciously aware of it. When I was awakened to Reiki my personal and spiritual growth was incredible. Through this wonderful energy I have developed calmness and stillness and to understand with compassion the suffering of others.
I treat people with various stress and/or emotional problems, or people who just want time for themselves for thought and reflection. I also treat people with Multiple Sclerosis and the disabled residents of a local Cheshire Home, and travel to people's homes to provide treatment if necessary.
Training and Qualifications:
Reiki 1st and 2nd degree
Reiki Master /Teacher
IIHHT Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology
I am a member of the following organisations:
UK Reiki Federation
Reiki Association
Embody
The treatment lasts approximately 1 hour and depends entirely on the needs of the client. It involves treating the whole body in an holistic way with the client fully clothed. 4 to 6 sessions are recommended at weekly intervals for maximum results, however 1 treatment will be of benefit but the effects of Reiki need to be built up over time. The client lies on a treatment couch for total relaxation. If this is not possible a chair, wheelchair or even the floor can be used as an alternative.
As I connect with the energy, my hands move in a sequence of positions over the body, font and back, sometimes touching, sometimes above the body. The client relaxes and sometimes will feel heat or tingling in areas being treated. Coloured lights can also drift in and out of their consciousness. Nothing is predictable as no 2 treatments are the same; it is individual and intensely personal.
Reiki relaxes, calms and gives a strong sense of well being, it will never harm anyone or anything.
Therapeutic Massage
I gained my diploma in Anatomy & Physiology at The City of Bath College in 2001and my diploma in Body Massage at Premier International in 2003.
Since qualifying I have developed my massage method, which is loosely based on the Swedish Massage Technique, to become more intuitive to the client's needs and is tailored to suit the individual. The treatment can be soft and gentle or if a firmer massage is required I incorporate deep tissue and muscle manipulation loosening up any tightness in the back, neck and shoulders and separating connective tissue around the spine. If a full body massage is requested this generally lasts for ninety minutes and includes the face and head together with a foot and leg massage at the end.
Massage has been found to give comfort and promote health. Touch is the first sense to develop in the human embryo and increasing research has shown that we all benefit from it.
Some benefits derived from massage include:
Relaxation
Stimulation
Relieves stress, anxiety, depression
Improves emotional and physical wellbeing

Yoga
All the major systems of the body benefit from regular yoga practise - through stretching and breath work the spine strengthens and becomes more flexible, muscles become more supple, digestion and circulation improve and the nerves calm. Yoga has the effect of balancing the hormones and reducing stress levels, leading to a general feeling of well-being and calm.

Homeopathy
Helen is a fully qualified homoeopath registered with the Association of Natural Medicine. She has been in practice for 10 years and is currently furthering her studies on a post graduate advanced course in homoeopathy. Helen is also a qualified life coach and has trained in other modalities including counselling, diet and nutrition.
Established over 200 years ago, homoeopathy is a complete system of natural medicine. Its gentle methods treat the person as a whole and can be applied to any condition - physical and emotional. With a particular interest in emotional problems such as stress, depression, anger etc, Helen believes that many health problems begin when such conditions are present.
Homoeopathic remedies stimulate the body's immune system to re-establish healthy balance, promoting good health and alleviating symptoms. Sometimes the cause of disease/ill health can relate back to a specific time in the patient's life, eg emotional trauma, accident or viral infection. The correct homoeopathic treatment can release the particular block restoring the body's healing ability.
